Underwear Glossary: VPL, Seamless, Gusset, G-string

Plain-English definitions of the underwear terms worth knowing — what they mean and why they matter for comfort and no-VPL wear.

VPL (Visible Panty Line)

The line your underwear's edges or seams press through your clothing — most visible under leggings and tight trousers. Removed by seamless, bonded-edge underwear or a G-string.

Seamless underwear

Underwear made without stitched seams, using bonded or laser-cut edges instead, so nothing prints through outer clothing.

Bonded edges

Edges heat-sealed or laser-cut flat rather than hemmed with elastic, leaving no ridge to show as VPL and nothing to dig into the skin.

Cotton-lined gusset

A cotton panel at the crotch of otherwise synthetic underwear, placing a breathable natural layer against the skin where it matters most.

Moisture-wicking

A fabric property that moves sweat from the skin to the outer surface where it evaporates, keeping you drier than absorbent cotton during exercise.

G-string

The most minimal underwear cut — a thin strip at the back — which shows no line under tight clothing.

Thong

Underwear with a narrow back strip and a small rear triangle; more coverage than a G-string, still low-VPL.

Brief

Full-seat underwear coverage; comfortable but the most likely to show a panty line under leggings.

No-VPL underwear

Any underwear engineered to show no visible panty line — typically seamless with bonded edges, or a G-string.

Four-way stretch

Fabric that stretches both horizontally and vertically, so underwear moves with the body without riding up or losing shape.

GRS-recycled nylon

Nylon certified under the Global Recycled Standard, made from recycled material — the performance fibre used in the Anywhere G's body.

Zero-dig waistband

A flat, bonded or wide-band waistband that lies against the skin without the tight elastic that leaves marks.
